Painter’s Prediction Week 1: Clemson vs. UGA

We are just days away from when Clemson opens the 24-25 football season with the seemingly impossible task of beating the preseason No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs (ESPN). The Tigers are double digit underdogs (+13.5); however, Dabo is still expecting his team to compete with the Bulldogs (ESPN). I believe the Tigers’ defensive stardom alone is enough to cover the spread against the Bulldogs, and Georgia may also be missing key starting Running back Trevor Etienne and starting Linebacker Smael Mondon Jr. because of possible suspensions issued by Coach Kirby Smart. Despite the possible suspensions, I like Georgia to walk out of Atlanta in a close 27-21 game. I believe Clemson will come out strong, but as the game continues, Georgia Quarterback Carson Beck will make Heisman-worthy plays down the stretch to lead the Bulldogs to a close victory. Regardless of the loss, our Clemson Tigers will be propelled by this close game with the best team in the country to a bounce back season from the disappointment caused from a lack of success from the 23-24 season.
